I write illustrated short stories about life.
A simple story can sometimes convey more wisdom than a lengthy book. Because we tend to listen to stories with our heart, not with our head.
Good stories remind us of truths that we have long forgotten. And they are mirrors in which we see our own life reflected.
People often ask me: "Are your books really children's books?"
My answer: I think we tend to underestimate what children can intuitively understand. And no matter how old we are, we all have a child inside of us.
So is there really such a thing as a 'children's book'?
As a child, Gijs was very curious about life. What's This, what we call existence? What's life all about? Initially, Gijs looked for answers in science. His passion was playing with computers.
He worked several years in academic research and started a software company. After leaving the business world, he started looking for answers to life's big questions.
Gijs writes short illustrated stories for all ages, in simple language that speaks to heart.
When not writing, he enjoys sailing and spending time with family and friends. Gijs is from the Netherlands and lives in Freiburg, Germany with his wife and two sons.
